Microsoft cracks open a window to the future, anticipates our laziness

“In the future, we’ll all be slaves to rectangles. No, really. Well, at least that’s the prognosis, albeit sanitized, Microsoft has slickly pieced together in its Productivity Future Vision concept video. It’s a mostly seamless world where all of our interactions are made to be mobile, virtual, efficient and white-washed, but it actually just reads as too darn fussy and overcomplicated. …”

Every airline should board airplane passengers like this: It cuts boarding time in half!

“Boarding a plane is a completely miserable, time-consuming experience. How often are you left waiting for that oversized man jam his oversized luggage into the undersized overhead compartment? Ridiculous! That’s why every airline needs to try this new boarding method. It cuts the time in half. Amazingly, it was invented by Dr. Jason Steffen, an astrophysicist in his day job but a man more adept at running airplanes than the airlines themselves.”  Read more…

So busted: Fan outrage over ‘Toddlers & Tiaras’ Parton look-alike

Appalled viewers of “Toddlers & Tiaras” are flooding the show with protests after an episode featured a kiddie-pageant mom dressing her 4-year-old as Dolly Parton — complete with fake breasts and buttocks. “It is extremely disturbing the things these parents are allowing their children to wear,” Marion A. Vail Pollak wrote on the show’s Facebook page.”  Read more…

Every hour of TV you watch may shorten your lifespan by 22 minutes

Oh yeah? Then how come I’m not dead?

“Spending your days in front of the television may contribute to a shortened lifespan, a new study suggests. Researchers in Australia found that people who averaged six hours a day of TV lived, on average, nearly five years less than people who watched no TV. For every hour of television watched after age 25, lifespan fell by 22 minutes, according to the research led by Dr. J. Lennert Veerman of the University of Queensland.”  Read more…
